Apr 21 - Matthew 26:6-8

" 6While Jesus was in Bethany in the
home of a man known as Simon the Leper,
7
a woman came to him with an alabaster
jar of very expensive perfume, which she
poured on his head as he was reclining at the table.

8When the disciples saw this, they were
indignant. "Why this waste?" they asked."

As the song Alabaster jar said, we break this at your feet... The focus of the passage is not about the alabaster jar but the very expensive perfume. it's like breaking a ps3 (well not over Jesus's head) but for God's cause.

I don't know about other people but sometimes when I go to church and don't have money for offering and when people are giving money for good cause... there is always thoughts in my head. when i go out and buy a laptop or bike or paintball gun or guitar or amp or bass in that fact... i don't have any guilt... only guilt i have is... do i have enough money for that? but the moment money is dropped into offering basket or any charity... there is a thought on my head... what am i getting from this?

People are very focused on getting something back with their money. if you pay 500 dollars... i better be getting something worth 500 dollars. that's how we are made. we give and we need to get something back right away... well when the woman poured VERY expensive purfume on to Jesus's head... she didn't get what she paid to buy that purfume for... it's like if there was axe body spray that cost 5,000 dollars. right after you spray it on your body... girls better be chasing you like the comercials... when you pay for something you expect something back... for her to forfit what she had... for Jesus... that's... selfless attitude God wants us to have...

Apostles sometimes comes out in the bible as foolish people... saying "what a waste..." but if you really think about it... we all have that part in us... even when your dropping that dollar into the offering basket... some part of you is going to be like... dude... you can be doing so much with that dollar.... but when you buy something you get that rejoice quick.... but also... buying things for yourself... your rejoice last short time... because things in this world decrease in wealth fast... if you buy a laptop... an awesome one! like i did my freshman year for 1500 dollars... it already cost 400-500 dollars only... things in this world will lose values... but gifts in heaven last forever....

Well said. It is not easy to wrap our minds around how temporary all wealth in this world is. The kingdom of heaven is worth giving up everything we own for, we shouldn't even question the smaller sacrifices we need to make.
